Flu

Flu is an infectious viral infection, which occurs mainly in the winter. For most people flu is self limiting and if you allow yourself time to rest in bed symptoms don't usually last for more than a week. However, for some people they can be left feeling quite debilitated for some time afterwards and the elderly and vulnerable are also more at risk of complications following flu.

It is important for those more at risk to seek professional help from their GP or other Health Practitioner and always seek further professional advice if you feel seriously unwell.

There are some common sense measures you can take to try and help stay healthy in the winter months.

  • Get adequate rest and sleep.
  • Eat a good diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and avoid too much dairy produce and meat.
  • Drink plenty of water and reduce caffeine and alcohol intake.
  • Take regular exercise and get plenty of fresh air.
  • Try and limit the amount of stress in your life and have some fun!
